We left almost on time....plan was 3:00p; left @ 3:30p. Got on ole faithful, LBJ. Was streaking ahead to Keller, home of "El Martillo Grande, i.e., The Big Hammer aka Scott Reagan" only to come to a screaching halt near TX-121 and endure a 45 minute grind. What a suck start. For those of you that don't know where Keller is.....think DFW Airport, Mid-Cities, Colleyville, Southlake, etc. For those of you poor bastards and bastardettes that live there, my sympathies are totally with you!
We picked up Hammer and Cubby, aka J.P. Mulcahy, finally...4:30p. After packing up, we did the 5:00p rush hour down Hwy 377. Stopped in Wichita Falls for dinner. Mexican @ On the Border. One guy that we stopped to asked directions advised...."Don't eat the cheeeese!". Slow service, mediocre food. Yeah, great start. Headed out to our final destination, Amarillo. Got stopped and ticketed by one of Hardeman County's finest.....79 in a 65. God, please let this trip segment come to a quick end. Finally, arrive in Amarillo @ 12:15a. After visiting 4 hotels, we end up at the Quality Inn. The name is not, I repeat, not descriptive. Sticky carpets. Left my socks on until I crawled into the bed.
